GreenLex’s mission is to help make Lexington-Fayette Urban County (LFUCG) a “model green city” through education, discussion and action.
Our vision is to partner with local government, citizens, businesses and organizations in our community to find economically viable ways to reduce Lexington's greenhouse gas footprint.

Is there an alarming climate crisis?
"A scientific study commissioned by the Bush administration concluded yesterday that the lower atmosphere was indeed growing warmer and that there was 'clear evidence of human influences on the climate system.' The finding eliminates a significant area of uncertainty in the debate over global warming, one that the administration has long cited as a rationale for proceeding cautiously on what it says would be costly limits on emissions of heat-trapping gases." Who are we?
A grassroots, non-partisan group of local citizens and entreprenuers who want to help make Lexington, KY a “model green city.” This website was created to promote disscussion, education and innovative action that can be "modeled" by other communities worldwide.
GreenLex goals?
Our goal is to promote, support and initiate programs in Lexington before the FEI World Equestrian Games in 2010. The FEI states that: "The principles of long-term preservation of the environment, reduction of energy consumption and the use of non-pollution or recycled materials are strongly recommended to all the members of the equestrian family." See FEI Code of Conduct Towards Environment & Sustainable Development.
In general, we support the ApolloAlliance.org 10 point program. and
Plug-in Cars: Rechargeit.org A Google.org project. We can have a Plug-in Demo car in Lexington by 2010.

What can I do here in Lexington?
Spread the word and ask people you know to see the movie “An Inconvenient Truth”. Who is your council person, state representatives, state congressman? Ask them if they support the signed "US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement" as well as Lexington's membership in the "Sierra Club Cool Cities" program. Join the Lexington Cool Cities Work Group. (LexCoolCity.org) Learn about the efforts of the Bluegrass Partnership for a Green Community. Learn about "Clean Coal". Join the Virtual March to stop global warming.
